Nottingham, 18-19 February - A voice for future city leaders
Young people from across the country made sure the voice of youth was heard when they attended the Core Cities Summit on 18th and 19th February. The city leaders of tomorrow gathered in Nottingham to take part in the Future Cities Game. Run in conjunction with the British Council, the Future Cities Game asks participants to come up with the best possible ideas to address long-term challenges facing cities.
It required our youth delegates to engage in a variety of visioning, consultation and problem solving tasks while working alongside professional advisors and interacting with the general public to come up with possible solutions to some of urban Britain’s most difficult issues on the topics of transport, the environment and active citizenship.
As part of the Youth Summit, the Game generated ideas for discussion with the Leaders and Chief Executives of the Core Cities. The winning idea – a low-price travelcard for young people across the cities - will be reported by the young people to the main Core Cities Summit in November in Liverpool.
